In keeping with the Mahinda Chinthana philosophy of the Government,
a Public Relations Bureau for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been
established with effect from 8th December 2008 on the initiative of
the Hon. Minister under the concept of an “innovative people-centered
diplomacy".
The objective of the Bureau is to promote and foster grater public
relations with the general public and to attend to the immediate needs
of Sri Lankans both in the country and resident abroad, with special
emphasis on rendering consular assistance.
The Bureau will essentially play a coordinating role between the
general public, various Divisions in the Ministry, Line Ministries and
State institutions and Sri Lanka Missions abroad. Among the activities
undertaken by the bureau would be follow up action on matters that
require immediate action under direct supervision of the Hon.
Minister.
